Sharjah: Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), inaugurated the second edition of one of the region’s most prestigious and unique bridal exhibitions – the Sharjah Bridal Fair (SBF) yesterday (Wednesday). Organised and hosted by Sharjah’s premier destination for distinguished occasions, Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre (JRCC), the four-day fair runs from 3rd until 6th May, and is witnessing participation of more than 120 exhibitors and brands specialised in fashion, beauty, health, nutrition, jewellery and tourism.
As part of the fair’s inaugural proceedings, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi toured the venue, visiting the numerous Emirati entrepreneurs who have exhibited their fashion lines and jewellery. Her Highness has directed that Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) memberships be extended to these women, in order to support them and their businesses to be expanded into the emirate of Sharjah.
With more than 1,500 visitors on opening day, SBF 2017 expects to attract a large footfall this time owing to the line-up of world-class products and services on display this year. The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of ladies from Sharjah and the UAE, in addition to fashion and jewellery designers, and representatives of local and international media.
From essentials to the whimsical, all imaginable components of a successful wedding fair are featured at SBF 2017, which has received outstanding participation of both Emirati and international brands. Visitors to the fair will have access to a wide variety of wedding ensemble, jewellery, Abayas, jalabyas, cocktail dresses, make-up, hairstyling and beauty and health services.
One-stop shop
One of the big focuses of the fair is to be a one-stop-shop for brides-to-be, and cater for all their wedding needs. The event has expanded its expands its vision and services this year, and is offering a wide array of special workshops that will deal with psychological preparedness, and introduce young women looking to enter a new phase of their life, to important social variables that they will experience after marriage. Additionally, SBF 2017 will offer vacation and honeymoon advise tailored to individual needs and preferences, and will address several issues that aim to further the wellbeing of women, in particular, brides-to-be. The fair also features daily fashion shows.
The opening ceremony featured a presentation on the first edition of SBF 2016, which highlighted its most notable achievements, and a general introduction about the second edition of the fair.
One of Day 1’s highlights was a spectacular jewellery show by Al Nakhla Jewellery, SBF 2017’s guest from the Republic of Egypt. Galeries Lafayette, a leading name in luxury from France, showcased a selection of luxury garments and shoes by key international brands.
The fair is hosting the ‘Sharjah Bridal Fair Fashion Awards’ and ‘Sharjah Bridal Fair Beauty Awards’, which aim to encourage young talented fashion designers, beauticians, make-up artists and hair stylists in UAE. The jury will be unveiled and winners will be announced at an awards gala on the concluding evening of SBF 2017.
The event is open to the public, and runs from 4pm to 11pm every day until Saturday, 6 May.
