Message from Her Highness

The Emirate of Sharjah had witnessed four decades of steady hard work on its path towards advancement; building on the foundations laid by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Throughout these years, many organizations were established and have taken root here in Sharjah, focusing primarily on women, children, youth, health, culture, and humanitarian work.

We believe in the vital role families have in building better societies. Since the early 1980s, we have endeavored to create organizations to serve every member of every family. From Sharjah Ladies Club, to the Family Development Centers working to promote awareness, offer guidance, and provide support. Along with the Health Promotion Department, which strives to consolidate concepts of family health and well-being towards prosperity altogether.

In our effort to empower women, we launched NAMA Women Advancement Establishment. NAMA encompasses organizations aimed at activating women’s role in the economic, professional and social sectors. From Sharjah Business Women Council to Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council, we seek to bring to life concepts of sustainability, progress, advancement and development all under one roof.

Furthering our role in advancing society within the framework of a long-term plan, integrated system, and based on our belief that creating leaders is an integral part of our path in Sharjah, we launched community organizations focusing on youth and children. Sharjah Girl Guides aims to develop the UAE scout movement, more specifically in Sharjah. While Rubu’ Qarn – Creating Future Leaders and Innovators – includes four entities that nurture children and youth. Seeking to discover and develop young talents and capabilities to build an Emirati generation capable of leading the future. The Sheikh Sultan Award, launched in February by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, encourages participants to challenge themselves and to polish their character in preparation for the future.

Finally, because we believe in humanitarian initiatives, a belief we share with His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, we devoted our resources and efforts to support the needy and the refugees around the world. The Big Heart Foundation was born to forge important partnerships with global charitable and developmental institutions towards implementing sustainable programs, and restoring hope to helpless souls dispersed by wars and conflicts.

In talking about these organizations, we pay tribute to the working groups whose tireless efforts continue to achieve the desired message of these initiatives: the UAE is a giving nation that walks in the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who embedded the seeds of goodness in the hearts of his children.
